Fiction Or Non-Fiction: What's The Difference?

There are four basic steps in getting a book published. One of the important aspects, the primary one, is to decide which genre or category you want to write on. You have to decide between writing fiction and non-fiction based on your reader's interests and your forte. Various eBook sites like Mediafaze already have several books in both categories to serve different tastes. It is imperative to understand the difference between fiction and non-fiction literature before you start writing and building your followers.

There are some key difference in elements when it comes to fiction writing. Fiction includes novel genres like: romance, young adult, erotica, women's fiction, historical writing, fantasy, and science-fiction novels. Any other fictional work that does not fall in the above mentioned genres, fall into the “mainstream fiction” category.

You would need a full manuscript ready with fictional material if you're a writer, before submitting your work to be reviewed and published. Even if you (as a writer) are excited about the story idea or a partial manuscript that you've developed, it is never advised to submit it to a editor or an agent.

The non-fiction category covers mostly: business, self-help, health, and memoirs. The publishing industry classifies the non-fictional books into mainly two categories: prescriptive (educational, how-to, informational) and narrative (memoirs, biographies, narrative non-fiction).

With non-fictional work, you do not need a complete manuscript to get hired by the publishers. You would need to write a book proposal (like a business plan) to convince the publishers to let you cover that particular topic. You would need to research before drafting a book proposal and come through on it if you're hired by the publishers on a contract to complete the book.

The differences between both the categories of literary art have a lot of importance based on the varying reader interests. There are loads of content available in both the section on various eBook reader sites like Mediafaze. The features of such sites vary from location to location but they offer invaluable titles with an easy scroll and click.
